Instead of working with the original raw data, reprodICU is a pre-harmonized dataset — meaning that all included datasets a transformed to a common structure and standard.
This allows for much faster as well as easier calculations of complex concepts and conditions.
Some things do stay the same though: patient admission types are based on the ricu mapping for adm, there is no difference there.
Some concepts from ricu were kept as so called magic variables, since contrary to the rest of the reprodICU concepts, they’re calculated directly from the source data.
